The one hour movie “THE LAGOON OF THE WHITE BIRDS”, dedicated to the Pomorie Lake, shows the unique biodiversity, which the lagoon keeps. The movie was made within the “Natura 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons” LIFE NAT GIE BG 371 project in partnership of Green Balkans with BG TOP MUSIC.
The premier date was chosen to be 21 May – the Natura 2000 Day in the three TV programmes of BG TOP MUSIC. You can check the next broadcasts on Hobby TV on 18.07, on Hobby Hunt – on 23.07 and on Hobby TV HD – on 14.08 as well as in Hobby TV’s YouTube channel.
The movie will help you to get more familiar with the unique natural treasures of the Pomorie Lake and its conservation.
The coastal lagoon is an example for a successful symbiosis of human with nature despite of the serious anthropogenic impact on the lake, historically speaking. Even the traditional for Pomorie salt extraction has not intervened to the conservation of numerous rare animal and plant species for the country and the lake.
The lagoon is home to more than 60 bird species, and during different seasons it can be observed over 270 species – migrating, overwintering and nesting.
The high concentration of salt in the lake determines as a whole its high biological diversity. As an emblem of the lake is chosen the Sandwich Tern – rare for the country and protected from national and international law species. In the 90s it was on a verge of extinction, nowadays, you can find the biggest colony for the county and for the Balkan Peninsula at Pomorie Lake.
You can watch the promo trailer of the movie HERE.
In total five movies on nature protection topics will be made within the project and in partnership of Green Balkans with BG TOP MUSIC – for Pomorie Lake, Research and conservation of the bats in Bulgaria, The treasures of Natura 2000 in Trakiya, Natura children of prey and The attractive force of the Northeast Natura areas.
The aim of the movies in “Natura 2000 in Bulgaria – New Horizons” project is to present interesting information for the biological diversity, the ecology, the restoration and the conservation of habitats and target species as well as the importance of Natura 2000 in Bulgaria ecological network.
The movies will be recorded on DVDs in order to be provided to interested organisations and educational institutions. Every person, who wishes to include the movies in educational activities, can state their interest at the contacts down below.
