During the exhibition, the representatives of Green Balkans acquainted the visitors with some of the projects implemented by the Organization, namely:

o Greater chance for Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni) in Bulgaria - Lesser Kestrel Recovery, LIFE11 NAT/BG/360 (Project Manager – Gradimir Gradev);
o Recovery of the Populations of Large European Vultures in Bulgaria - Vultures Return in Bulgaria, LIFE08 NAT/BG/278 (Project Manager – Elena Kmetova);
o Conservation of threatened waterfowl species and natural habitats of Lake Pomorie (Project Manager – Dimitar Popov);
o Sustainable management of Forests in Natura 2000 sites of Smolyan Region (Project Manager – Dimitar Popov);
o The last heron colony in Thrace – restoration of mixed heron and egret colonies in the Maritsa river valley (Project Manager – Hristo Nikolov).

What was new at this year’s exhibition was the presentation of our online shop. The kids were excited by the salamander, fishes, scorpions and swans. And no, it was not about living animals, but modular origami.

Real-size dummies of vultures (Griffon and Black), which were exposed at our kiosk, attracted children and adults, triggering interesting comments. There were quite a few children demonstrating remarkable knowledge, proving that they are our future and it is worth investing the best possible efforts to raise their environmental awareness. We also hope we have stirred the interest of the grown-ups.

On Thursday, the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Breeding Center were special guests at the stand. Fortunately, lots of people had already known the Center; some of them had even sent animals in distress to Stara Zagora and others had already adopted patients of the Rescue Center. The pelican Gruyo was mentioned not only once or twice.

Special money-box was installed to collect the donations from the visitors, who decided to support our nature conservation activities. Keep up with our “news” section to find out where the money-box will appear; soon you will see it in unexpected places!

We also managed to stir the interest of the media – on Friday, New Bulgarian Television (NBT) broadcast live interview with Neli Arabadzhieva. The topic of the conversation was volunteering and Green Balkans’ activities in general. And, in this regard, we would like to thank our volunteers for their valuable support for the organization of Green Balkans’ participation in the exhibition – Nikolay Krastev, Ivan Prodanov, Ivan Malamov, Nadezhda Kuncheva, Nikolay Dimov, Lili Stoeva, Georgi Stoychev, Evgeniy Dakov.

And last but not least, we would like to express our most sincere gratitude to Plovdiv International Fair for their kind assistance. We hope we will continue our fruitful partnership in the future.
