The young bird was the first individual of that species observed in the area of the saline lagoon of Pomorie. Thus, the number of bird species found in the complex of protected areas reached 269!

The Flamingo was observed by Stoyan Yordanov of Green Balkans’ team in Pomorie, as well as by Yordan Ivanov and Elena Ivanova.

Another interesting species observed recently in the area of Pomorie Lake has been a juvenile Velvet Scooter. The interesting fact about this observation is that this year the rare bird has arrived much earlier than usual.

Green Balkans’ activities in the area of Pomorie Lake are implemented within ”Urgent Measures for Restoration and Conservation of Species and Habitats of European Significance within Pomorie Lake Complex of Protected Natural Areas” project funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union and the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria through Operational Program “Environment” 2007-2013.
