The awards were handed on an official ceremony in the Sofia Arsenal Museum of Contemporary art. On the ceremony were present the Vice-minister of Environment and Waters Mrs. Evdokia Maneva, the Vice-minister of Culture Mr. Georgi Stoev and the owner of Moto-Pfohe Mr. Philip Pfohe.
In 2012 in the program participated 40 projects from the whole country. The jury decided that except for the big award, three additional awards should also be granted.
The project of Green Balkans NGO – “Protection of rare bird species and natural habitats at Pomorie Lake”, received the firs from the three additional awards. This project aims at direct conservation measures for rare birds and natural habitats that are an object of protection by the national and international legislation. The idea was awarded 5 000 levs and a plaque. They were handed to the author of the project Dimitar Popov by the Vice-minister of Environment and Waters Mrs. Evdokia Maneva.
The award by Moto-Pfohe is the second big acknowledgement for the activities of Green Balkans at Pomorie Lake this year. Earlier in 2012 Pomorie Lake was awarded a “Blue Globe” for best management practices in wetland conservation. The award was handed at the annual Conference of the Contracting Parties of the Ramsar Convention (COP11). The on-line voting for the Blue Globe was organized earlier by the World Wetland Network.
An exhibition showing the awarded by Moto-Pfohe project will be presented in the central showroom of Moto-Pfohe at 444, Slivnitsa Blvd., Sofia.
