Cleaning the Pomorie Lake banks

So far, the cleaning company hired by the Organization has collected and transported 47 trucks or some 300 m3 of waste only along the southern banks of the lake. The cleaning action continues, including both the unregulated dumping grounds along the northern and the western shore of the saline lagoon and the dunes situated between the towns of Pomorie and Aheloy.
Few days ago, two tourist routes were opened at Pomorie Lake – botanical and ornithological. One of the purposes of the cleaning action is exactly removing the waste from some of the most suitable areas for walking and biodiversity observation.
The members of the environmental organization hope that this big cleaning action will motivate Pomorie citizens and guests to look with another eye upon the lake, showing greater responsibility.

The event took place within ”Urgent Measures for Restoration and Conservation of Species and Habitats of European Significance within Pomorie Lake Complex of Protected Natural Areas” project funded by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union and the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria through Operational Program “Environment” 2007-2013.
